Tokyo, Japan – September 2025 – In a major step toward a fully digital healthcare system, the Japanese government has officially launched the mobile version of the My Number Health Insurance Card. This new initiative allows citizens to securely store their My Number Health Insurance Card directly in their smartphone wallet, providing fast and contactless access to healthcare services across the country.
This digital transformation marks a significant milestone, allowing patients to verify insurance eligibility and access medical services using only their iPhone or Android smartphone. The shift to a mobile-first system offers numerous benefits, including faster patient reception, real-time access to personal medical records, and streamlined insurance claims. It also ensures continued usability even after a patient changes insurers, eliminating the need for a physical card replacement.

The company has ensured that its widely deployed CIR315A and CIR415A contactless smart card readers are fully compatible with both the physical and new mobile My Number Health Insurance Cards.
